New Players and Parents

Volunteer hours are required for all families.  Typical opportunities include:

  • Game Day Activities
  • Fundraisers
  • Equipment Handout
  • Equipment Hand in
  • Others


With the current pandemic situation all the dates listed below are TENTATIVE ONLY.  We will update anything as soon as more information is available.  Thank you for your patience.


Equipment Pickup-

It is very important to make the equipment pickups handout. At this time your child will be fitted for helmets, shoulder pads, pants, and jerseys.   Equipment pickup is TBA.   All payments and paperwork are due at this time.  No equipment will be handed out without payment and paperwork.

Equipment handout is held at Connor Field, which is located across the parking lot from the Little League complex, at 601 E. Verona Ave., Verona, WI.

Practice Jersey-

Practice jerseys are provided at equipment handout, and to be returned at the end of the season.

Equipment Needed-

WYF provides Helmets, shoulder pads, jerseys and a chin strap. Parents are responsible for purchasing a pair of pants, a mouth guard and shoes.

Recommended Pants - Champro Youth Intimidator Integrated Pants

Shoes must have a plastic molded cleat, metal cleats are not permitted.
Tinted eye shields are not permitted
Additional items that are recommended but not required:
    Long socks
    Under shirts- short sleeve or sleeveless for warm days, long sleeves for cold days
    Additional pants

First week of Practice:  COVID-19 regulations could change these dates.  These are ONLY TENTATIVE right now

6th, 7th, 8th Grades

The 1st week of practice is planned to start Aug 4th.  

4th/5th Grade Padded Flag

The 1st week of practice starts Aug 11th.  

The first week for all grades is used an evaluation period and it is very important your player attends.  The players are also required to have 2 helmet only and 3 helmet/shoulder pads practices prior to practicing in full gear.  The evaluation days are set to accommodate the helmet only practices. Please note: Players who miss these days will be required to make up these days during regular scheduled practices before they can participate in full contact activities.

Team Selection:

WYF will not honor placement requests.  Each grade will be divided into equal teams and typically practice at the same time.  WYF has a grade level approach to practices. All kids will be working with all grade level coaches. Team selections will be posted the week of August 12th.


4th / 5thgraders - Practices are 3 days per week (Mon, Wed, Thurs) from 5:30 - 7:00, to start the season, and are likely to be pared to 2 nights per week as the season progresses, with Games on Saturdays.  All practices are at Connor Field (across the parking lot from the Little League complex in Verona).

6th graders typically practice 3 nights per week 5:30-7 each night.  First 3 weeks will be 4 nights per week, from 5:30 - 7:30  with M-Thu practices.    After the first three weeks, practices will usually be M, T, and Th unless there is a holiday or coach change to the practice schedule.  All practices are at Connor Field (across the parking lot from the Little League complex in Verona).  Games are on Saturdays and may start as early at 8 am. Verona competes against other teams that are part of the BCYFL (Badger Central Youth Football League). Typically you will have half your games at home and travel the other half. WYF is not responsible for transportation.

7th & 8th Grade typically practice 3 nights per week 5:30-7 each night.  First 3 weeks will be 4 nights per week, from 5:30 - 7:30  with M-Thu practices. All practices are in Verona, behind Badger Ridge Middle School.  Games are typically Monday or Tuesday evenings.  Some away games may require some kids are dismissed from school early. WYF is not responsible for transportation.

Weigh In-

All players will have their official weight recorded at equipment handout. There will be no re-weigh ins.

Picture night-

Pictures will be taken on September 9, by Empire Photography. All proofs are emailed to the parents within 2 weeks of picture date. Team pictures are scheduled for September 9th. Please be sure your child is ready with their full uniform.
